Nilsson News

March arrived and along with it, winter!  We have truly been enjoying a very mild January and February and it was like the weather remembered that it was supposed to be horrible.  March 1st brought in a massive snow storm.  We got over 12 inches of the heaviest, wet snow we have seen in a very long time.  Two huge branches on one of our spruce trees snapped and left a big hole in the center.  I think the trees days are now numbered.  This was the kind of snow that you could only take one scoop with the shovel and attempt to toss it.  And it just kept coming!  Garrett was out trying to get the tractor to start (it was unsuccessful) and witnessed a thunder and lightening show through the snow!  It was wild!

Aside from the snow, we have been battling coughs, colds, and the stomach bug.  It seems to last forever and makes its rounds multiple times.  On top of that, we've been taking care of a sick chicken.  We brought her inside and gave her a bath and then we set up a hospital room in our outside bathroom.  She has sour crop so we took her off of food and water and gave her probiotics and apple cider vinegar.  It took her four days but I think she is finally cured and we were able to move her back outside.  I was grateful we didn't have to perform surgery, which was the recommended solution.

Emma, Dane loves boots too!  And knives.  He loves knives and guns.  Yes I am a concerned mother.
Happy 7th Birthday to Millie!  She was sick for two days before her birthday with the stomach bug, was better on her birthday, and the day following came down with croup.

The chicken hospital.
Snow, snow, snow!
