Hyde Happinesses

Well we’ve got a sick baby over here so I’m writing on the blog while I hold him. We’re not quite sure what he’s got but he’s pretty miserable and just wants lots of snuggles and nursing. He’s not super cuddly so while I’m sad he’s not feeling well, I’m loving all the snuggles.

As usual, not too much happened this week. I’ve enjoyed spending a little bit of time in the kitchen canning and experimenting with sourdough recipes. We canned some salsa this week and made English muffins. We also meal prepped some breakfast sandwiches for Cam to take with him in the morning. I always feel like I have my life together when I meal prep something 😂

Cam has been extra busy at work lately with a potential upcoming promotion and store audits. He’s still loving what he’s doing and especially enjoys the pressure of problem solving as a manager. He’s flying to Florida in the middle of October for an owners meeting so if anyone wants to come keep me company, you’re more than welcome 😃

We got to go to Eckerts again this week with some friends. It’s the same place where we go to pick blackberries and peaches. This time we picked some apples and pumpkins. We’re going to do a caramel apple bar with those same friends tomorrow which will be a blast.

These two have been buddies lately which is so fun. Stetson learned to throw her ball, so now she’s thinking he’s good for something anyway 😅 we also discovered Oakley loves bubbles and Stetson loves watching Oakley pop the bubbles.

Until….. she looks so unbelievably guilty in this picture 😂 I promise he just wore himself out filling up his diaper.

Salsita! We added smoked paprika to get a smoky taste and it worked!!

Nilsson News

I just have to give a huge shout out to Emma and Jenn on being super consistent posters on this blog!  Time just flies and I haven't posted anything in a very long time.

Here are some highlights:

-Addy was asked to the homecoming dance next weekend!  We went dress shopping and found her a lovely black dress paired with a burgundy sweater.

-Harvested all our onions and watermelons, one of which was 34 pounds (the watermelon, not the onion)!  It sat in the fridge for a solid week and we ate though it every day.

-We went to the museum exhibit on prehistoric deep sea animals with the Harts.  It was actually slightly terrifying.  Huge creatures that preyed on whales- I will stay on dry land thank you.

-We bought an old go kart for the boys to work on and learn mechanics.

-Addy and I went to the Parade of Homes with Elise and Ian which was fun and inspiring.

-We still haven't officially started school.  We love summer too much to let it go.

-Emerson has been blacksmithing, Henry and Millie have been riding their bikes, and Eliza has been playing with her friend Ainsley.  Addy has started up her job as a clogging TA.  Dane is into all things and loves to figure out how things work.  He is sometimes sleeping.  Garrett is still working at BYUI but we think he might try to find another job- if possible.  As for me, I've been keeping the projects going and everyone else going.  That's a quick recap and here are some pictures.

Hyde Happinesses

Hello everyone. I’ve got to say I was pretty jealous of Joe and Thomas hanging out this weekend but then I stopped being jealous after I saw the aftermath 😂 it’s pretty impressive though so hats off to the marathon runners 🫡

Not much to say this week. I got to go out with the missionaries and that was phenomenal. I loved it. They’re teaching a man named Vicente and I loved chatting with him in Spanish. Love those people and the language. Celestial.

He keeps growing up so fast

We still love our Oakley girl

Goofing off with dad

Tippy tippy toes

He doesn’t fall asleep on me often so this was a nice surprise

More fun with dad!

WHO SAID HE COULD LOOK LIKE A TODDLER

Hyde Happinesses

Not too much going on this week. It has begun to cool down and I am here for it! It is soooooo nice to go on chilly morning walks and get to wear sweaters and long pants 🥳 Cam thinks I’m crazy for loving jeans, but they’re my favorite and just too hot in the summer. Fall is gorgeous in Kentucky. Y’all should come check it out ;)

Like I said, we didn’t have too much going on this week. I’ve been in kahoots with Yanny and Ruth, trying to get our kiddos to sleep. Ruth has had some success with Dane, and Stetson has been doing significantly better! Such a relief to tired mamas worldwide. We’re working on training Stetson to fall asleep on his own. Baby steps are where it’s at. In the book I have about kids sleeping, the lady mentions that sleeping is a skill that people need to learn, and learning new things is often difficult and frustrating, hence tears. Since Stetson always nurses to sleep, we’re working on getting him used to Cam putting him to bed. It’s been going pretty well! Next step is to lay him down in his own bed while he’s awake and stay with him and try to get him to go to sleep on his own. Fun times.

We went to the Kentucky Horse Festival yesterday. I’m not really sure what it celebrates besides ya know, horses. There is a parade with a bunch of different horses and tons of vendors and tents and stuff. It was a wild time. It was packed and smokey with all the different foods and smokers around, and really not too enjoyable. But then we went to a Mexican restaurant and got the best carne asada I’ve ever had so it was okay 👌🏼

He cannot figure out hats to save him, but he just laughed at this one and tried to eat it instead of crying.

Pray for me 😂

As long as he’s not actually strapped in his car seat, he loves it

Sometimes I forget how small he is

Eating cherry tomatoes. Dad bites a chunk off so Stetson can suck all the innards out, and Oakley gets the skin. A three way symbiotic relationship.

He desperately wants to be friends with her. I hope she warms up but for now, she’s still pretty standoffish

Flake Fun

First of all, hats off to Emma for canning with an infant in the house! That is an amazing feat! I have yet to grow a garden, let alone can anything from said garden since the kids were born!!!

This has been a go with the flow week.  We are hoping that Scott's schedule will start to slow down.  We count it a good day when he makes it home for dinner.  But he always has one-on-one time with the kids before work so that is awesome.

The sad news of the week is that Cherry Sue died yesterday.  We don't know what happened but she was Robin's favorite chicken so it was a sad, teary evening.

We spent the whole day cutting firewood yesterday.  The kids were troopers and enjoyed rolling logs down the hill to the truck.

That is all that I can think of.  Love you all! Have a good week.

Hyde Happinesses

Hello there :) this week has been a week of recovery for Stetson and I. We’ve been back from Utah for over a week and a half now, but Stetson got sick when we got back and has not been sleeping, so we’re still playing catch up. Good times! I have a newfound respect for Jenn - always taking the kids on trips to Grandmas and totally upsetting sleeping schedules, not to mention potty training and all other things! Moms are pretty amazing. Hats off to all of you!! :)

Cam is still working at the Stretch Zone as the GM. The owner is looking to hire a Regional Manager, and Cam seems to be in line for the position! We’re not sure if/when that will take place, but he’s been working hard and putting in the time to make it happen. Because of that, the soda business is on the back burner for now. I think we will restart at the beginning of the year :)

The big news of the week??! I feel like a real homemaker. I canned tomatoes!! Our own tomatoes from our own garden in our own canner!! Now I know that’s not a big deal to all you professional homemakers out there, but I was very proud and felt like I was initiated into the homemakers guild or something 😂 it truly is so cool to grow something, harvest, and preserve it. Thanks to a phenomenal mom and dad for showing us the ropes.

Other news of the week, Cam and I were able to go to the temple and do a session!! I haven’t been since they made the changes and it was awesome. We absolutely loved it and it was great to get some alone time with Cam in the Celestial Room. Cams mom came along and watched Stetson for us while we were inside which was super great. Then we enjoyed some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in awhile. It was a good day :)

Well we sure love you all!! I think I say this every week but our house is always open! We love visitors and would love to take you around Lexington, especially in the fall ;)

This is Stetsons new face. He makes it randomly and always laughs afterward. It totally kills us, which is probably why he does it so often.

He is a total goofball and I love it

More feet on the dash

Not the best picture quality, but it was a quality day

Apparently he loves lasagna

Just five jars but that’s plenty for us!! 😍😍😍
