Hart Happenings

Our hiatus from the blog is officially over! With planning a vacation, going on said vacation, and getting sick the moment we stepped off the plane, we have been absent, absent, absent! It is nice to be well again and thinking about getting back into our regular schedule. After the wedding, of course......!
Puerto Rico was marvelous! Beautiful, warm, Spanish, and foreign! We spent our time with a favorite couple of ours and it caused me to reflect mucho about how blessed we have been our whole marriage with really good friends. We enjoy the association of stellar people. This was re-emphasized when I was sick. We spent all day on Saturday delivering thank you's to people who brought us dinner, covered church lessons, and offered to take the kids. What a blessing!
I don't think the boys missed us at all. They had a blast making duck tape weapons with Thomas, going on fun outings that Grandma planned, and attending Emma's play. We were sure glad to see them though!
Alex left again on Thursday for a FreeLife conference in Vegas and just barely got home this morning. He heard some pretty inspiring stuff and is looking forward to putting some new principles into play.
The boys and I went to see The Good Dinosaur movie on Friday and were blown away! Good story and excellent animation!
We've been talking a little bit about the Family Gathering. Let's start tossing dates around.
Can't wait to see everyone this weekend. We had fun at Victoria's bridal shower and it put me in the mood for further wedding party stuff! Yay!

Hang ups in Hyde Park

So, I finally found the post I wrote several weeks ago and clicked on the wrong button, so now you have a very outdated post. Oh, well. Late news is sometimes still news....

This week sort of evaporated. Where it went I do not know. I attended two births and tried to get back on top of house work and laundry. Emma finished the last of 8 performances of Music Man last night. It was a good show, for a high school production. She says she'd rather be on stage than in the pit, so she may try out next year. Thomas took the rest of his bedroom furniture to his apartment last night. It's getting more and more quiet around here. Just the thought of more furniture being gone makes the house quieter in some way.

Things are getting ready for the big event next Saturday! It will be wonderful to be together again, especially in the temple. Grandpa will be performing the sealing, as you know. I find it significant Albert and Elsie Belliston, Angus and Marcelle Belliston, Jim and Robin Belliston, Joseph and Lori Belliston and Thomas and Victoria Belliston all were/will be married in the Salt Lake Temple. That is a long line of our family temple marriages in that great pioneer temple! I also find it significant that all of the other weddings in our family took place in pioneer temples - Logan (twice - Elise and Lauren), Manti (Ruth) and St. George (Jenn). I have always felt strong impressions that extended family members attended those marriages from the other side of the veil. I have every confidence that my mother and Dad's mother were at all of the marriages of our children and quite possibly my grandparents. Our forefathers have a great interest in their posterity and I think they have more to do with our lives than we often realize. I hope you'll watch for and be aware of feelings and impressions that you have in special situations like temple marriages. The veil is truly quite thin on those occasions.

Dad, Emma and I attended the YSA 27th ward family day for church today. Thomas and Victoria both attend that ward. There were lots of folks there! We couldn't fit in one of the regular Sunday School classes, so they created another class in the cultural hall to accommodate the extra people. It was great! During the lesson the teacher made a comment that struck me. He said he had a fairly intense mission companion who once took him by the collar and said to him, "Elder, never forget! Never forget that the Celestial Kingdom is the goal!" There are so many things in our day to day experiences that tend to distract us and keep us from remembering that. If we focus on remembering what our ultimate goal is, so much that bugs us, or the frustrations we experience in life, won't be so important. There are only a few things worth the time and attention we give them. Just a thought.

See you all soon!

Hyde Park

I don't know if any of the rest of you are like this, but I feel incredibly busy all week long, with hardly time to think or to take a deep breath. Then when I sit down to post on the blog, I think, "what really happened this week? Did I accomplish anything at all?"  And I can't think of a thing...

Anyway, Dad was gone for a couple of days to a conference in Salt Lake. He came back earlier than anticipated, which was nice because the car had died and needed help. Just his presence encouraged it to start! We didn't even have to push it into the garage like we were prepared to do.

We had a lovely surprise one day when Thomas showed up just as I was getting dinner ready. Lauren was here teaching and Nick came in time to eat with us, too. Instead of the usual 3 of us for dinner, there were six - and we were all (especially Emma) very glad about that!

T is living in his apartment and having a hard time preparing meals without pans, bowls, etc. But he's surviving. He's very busy, which is why we hardly see him. There are still a few things in his room that we need to move sometime soon, but we're not in any hurry :)

Emma went to the Sweetheart Ball this weekend. We had a near catastrophe when we realized at 6:10 on Friday that we hadn't picked up her dress! Knowing the place closed at 6:00, we rushed over with a prayer in our hearts that we could somehow still pick up the dress. Prayers are answered!! The new closing time was 7:00 and the lady was very kind and pleasant. Emma enjoyed the date very much and had the new experience of making sushi with her friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed a visit with Elise this week. She is very insightful and wise. It made me think that perhaps we could share some thoughts with each other on this blog. After recounting activities of the week, tell us what's been on your mind. What insights, impressions, "Ah-Ha" moments have you had this week? Or what is something you've heard that was meaningful? Maybe we could even have a colloquium about a talk or book we all read. Just an idea. Here's my thought for this week:

If you haven't seen or listened to or read Russell M. Nelson's talk to the young adults from a few weeks ago, you really should! It was a very remarkable talk. He spoke about being True Millennials and gave some very wise and timely counsel and a profound blessing "as though I had my hands upon your heads..."  So much of it impressed me, but here is one of my favorite statements from Pres. Nelson: "Spend more time—much more time—in places where the Spirit is present. That means more time with friends who are seeking to have the Spirit with them. Spend more time on your knees in prayer, more time in the scriptures, more time in family history work, more time in the temple. I promise you that as you consistently give the Lord a generous portion of your time, He will multiply the remainder." I sure need that blessing in my life! I sometimes think I'm too busy to spend more time doing those things, but I need my time multiplied so it's worth a try. I know that obedience brings blessings and that exact obedience brings miracles. President Durrant once said in our stake conference that if you need a miracle, think about how you are praying, reading scriptures, doing family history, fasting, etc. He said that more exactly keeping those commandments would bring miracles into our lives. I've tested that and it truly works.  Give it a try! Here's a link to the devotional

We are getting excited for the Hart boys to come and have a list of fun things to do while they're here! We are also getting excited for the bridal shower for Victoria! It will be great fun. Can't wait to see all of you and spend some time in the temple together. It doesn't get better than that on this earth!!

Flake Fun

21 February 2016

This week has been a whirlwind.  I got back from a great trip to Utah on Monday afternoon.  On Wednesday morning Scott left for a 3 day business trip.  He got back on Friday night.  On Saturday we worked on the house with TJ.  Now it is Sunday we are getting ready to head back to Utah this weekend.  February will be gone before we can blink!

Glad to hear that the Harts are feeling better!  Hope everyone else stayed healthy!

See you soon!

Flake Fun

7 February 2016 - This week has been pretty normal.  We (Jenn's program) are being visited by the auditor general's office next week and I spent some time getting things ready and soothing the jitters of my boss.

This week we worked on getting the shelves in at TJ's house so they can paint.  It is slow work but it is starting to come together.

The weather has been really cold and we enjoy getting a roaring fire going ever night.  Man, our life looks boring on paper!

Love you all!
