Hyde Happinesses

Hello all :) hope you’ve had a wonderful week! We’ve had a good one over here. It was quite warm at the beginning of the week so we played at the park mucho mucho and went on TONS of walks :) all very fun things. Stetson loves being outside and already has a very nice tan! He’s gonna be a little tow headed Indian this summer and I’m here for it.

Stetson never ceases to make us laugh. I love when he’s sleeping but all I do is sit and look at pictures and videos of him 😬😅 I’m obsessed. He’s so stinking cute. He is getting a little more affectionate lately which warms my heart. He loves giving kisses and squeezes with back pats (my heart!!!). He LOVES his new word “no” and uses it constantly 🙂 help. It’s mostly funny, and honestly really nice to know what he wants and doesn’t want. He loves loves loves the park and never wants to leave and always wants to go on the really big slides… the other day we were at the park and there were lots of other kiddos around. Stetson just walked around and waved to all the kids. Guys. Why did it hurt my heart?? The kids weren’t mean but they didn’t know what to do because he’s so little and can’t talk so mostly they just ran away 😭😭😭 I just want him to have a little friend 😭 it was so totally adorable and just tugged at my heartstrings. Maybe I’m just weird. Who knows.

On Tuesday we walked up to campus and had lunch with Cam on the quad. It was heaven you guys! The weather was perfect. We sat on a picnic blanket and just ate some Old Grist Mill and watched Stetson make friends with everyone that passed by. Oakley was only mildly obnoxious with little barks now and then. It was pretty darn perfect. How is this my life??!

We had mom and dad over for dinner this week which is always fun. They watched Stetson while we ran to the store for a little “date.” We got creamies and guess what? They have coconut creamies!!! It’s nutso. They have coconut flakes in them and they are super delicioso! 😋 it was awesome. Mom had to run right after dinner but dad stayed for awhile and we watched an episode of animals up close on Disney plus. If you have access it’s really awesome! Dad liked it loads and loads (I think…). Anyway. It was really great to have them over and I’m really grateful I’m closer so I can do it more often.

Well I hope you all have a great week ahead. Sure love you guys!!

It’s the double milk mustache for me

He likes to sit on the porch. Who is this distinguished young man?

If you want to boost your serotonin, just lmk and I’ll send you the best videos of Stetson going down the slide. Headfirst and squealing

Hyde Happinesses

This was a packed week! Or it seemed like it was… it was Cams spring break. Unfortunately we didn’t really do anything too crazy, but it was fun to hang out with Elise and Thomas for a bit! They’re a blast. Elise and I had a book club for “To Kill a Mockingbird” and mom and dad joined in for some of it. It was phenomenal. I’m glad I have siblings that have their heads on straight. It’s very fun to talk to you and learn from all of you. So so fun.

Stetson just gets cuter every day if you can believe it. He’s really starting to have preferences and will throw out and out tantrums. If you have any advice besides “just give the kid what he wants,” send it my way 😂😂 he’s usually really chill and happy, but he can flip a switch! He learned the joys of going down the slide (all by himself and head first) and he laughs allll the way down. It’s adorable. Then he throws a missive fit all the way home 😅 but it’s quite enjoyable while it lasts. He flew a kite yesterday which was also a blast. He’s just the best and we love him.

I went to help a friend whose appendix ruptured. She has three cute girls, and the youngest is about Jane’s age. My friend wasn’t allowed to hold anything over 10lbs for two weeks, and her baby weighs about 15! 😭😬 so hard but it was fun to go visit and just snuggle a baby all day long.

Cam woke up early this morning and made a trail of leprechaun footprints all over the house to a pot of gold. Stetson followed it and was SO excited to find it at the end. It was totally adorable.

I made fruit leather this week (compliments of Yanny’s recipe). It was delicious! Cam keeps asking me to make more so that makes me feel good! Super easy and fun.

Sure love you guys and hope you have a great upcoming week!

The jury is still out on Thomas, but Stetson really likes Peter!

Bright green waffles 😂 I couldn’t bring myself to make green eggs, though that seemed wildly appropriate

Flake Fun

Well, it appears that spring is here which means wind, wind, wind and more wind. On days like these i want to shave my head and build an indoor jungle gym!

We hauled a ton (technically 120ish tons) of dirt last weekend (in 45 MPH winds) and yesterday we spread most of the dirt out on the acreage road.  Scott also dug a diversion ditch so the culvert area can dry out a little before we put the pipe in.

Hope that everyone has a good week!

Hyde Happinesses

Hello all :) we had a good week this week. Daylight savings sure messes things up but hopefully we’ll get on track soon.

This week I’ve been doing lots of food experiments :) I made a couple sourdough loaves today (chocolate chip and Parmesan asiago) and they both turned out pretty well.  I love love love the book Elise gave me all about sourdough and it’s been a blast to try out the recipes. The other thing I made were fruit snacks. They were also so much fun to make and sooooo satisfying! They turned out a lot better than I thought they would and I love that I’m not afraid that Stetson will choke because they seem to dissolve pretty fast :) Cams a champ for letting me try all these silly experiments and entertain myself 😅

Stetson and I went to the new Logan Library this week which was very fun! They have a good kids section and on their upper floors, they have outside balconies where you can go sit and read! So fun.

Looks like the weather should be warming up this week (we can always hope) so that will be nice!! We’re planning on lots of walks and outside time during Cams spring break :) it’ll be a blast.

Introducing Stetson to the joys of graham crackers and milk

Date night with Cam started out with getting La Unica tacos and horchata. On our way home, we noticed a little boy walking outside of the church by Sky View, just sobbing. He was wearing church clothes, but no one was in sight. We flipped around along with another car, and I jumped out and asked what he was doing “I want my mom,” he sobbed and sobbed. The nice lady who also stopped grabbed a blanket and wrapped him in it. He was four, his name was Peter, and he and his family had come from far away for a “baptism party.” Well the other lady who stopped found out who had reserved the church and she texted them and called, but got no answer. Finally, after calling the police department, someone showed up. His cousins grandparents 😂 he had NO idea who they were, and turns out it wasn’t a “baptism party” but a funeral and everyone had left and gone to the viewing. Well, he wouldn’t go with them, so we waited and waited for… not his parents but his aunt and uncle to show up 😅 I haven’t the foggiest clue at what his parents were doing but they never came. Luckily when his aunt got there, he gave her a massive hug and just held on, so we felt okay letting him go with her 😅 poor little dude! Teach your kids their last name, in the very least 😅

She’s still cute even though she drives me up the wall

Nilsson News

March arrived and along with it, winter!  We have truly been enjoying a very mild January and February and it was like the weather remembered that it was supposed to be horrible.  March 1st brought in a massive snow storm.  We got over 12 inches of the heaviest, wet snow we have seen in a very long time.  Two huge branches on one of our spruce trees snapped and left a big hole in the center.  I think the trees days are now numbered.  This was the kind of snow that you could only take one scoop with the shovel and attempt to toss it.  And it just kept coming!  Garrett was out trying to get the tractor to start (it was unsuccessful) and witnessed a thunder and lightening show through the snow!  It was wild!

Aside from the snow, we have been battling coughs, colds, and the stomach bug.  It seems to last forever and makes its rounds multiple times.  On top of that, we've been taking care of a sick chicken.  We brought her inside and gave her a bath and then we set up a hospital room in our outside bathroom.  She has sour crop so we took her off of food and water and gave her probiotics and apple cider vinegar.  It took her four days but I think she is finally cured and we were able to move her back outside.  I was grateful we didn't have to perform surgery, which was the recommended solution.

Emma, Dane loves boots too!  And knives.  He loves knives and guns.  Yes I am a concerned mother.
Happy 7th Birthday to Millie!  She was sick for two days before her birthday with the stomach bug, was better on her birthday, and the day following came down with croup.

The chicken hospital.
Snow, snow, snow!

Hyde Happinesses

Hello everyone. Happy March! Spring is going to… well, spring one of these days. It’s currently snowing outside. I don’t mind too much right now. It might get old by the end of the month though 😂 at the beginning of the week, we got up into the 50’s and that was awesome. We ended on a somewhat colder note I suppose 😅 Stetson absolutely loves going outside and has figured out how to open our door that goes out. If I don’t lock it, he’ll knock on the door and grab the handle and say “out out out.” So hard to explain to him we can’t go out in the middle of a blizzard.

I made some more breads this week. I quite enjoy the making of the things, even if I don’t love the eating of them 😂 I told one of my friends that I am not too fond of bread, and she just can’t believe it. She keeps asking me random questions: “well what about pastries? Like, they’re not bread but they definitely have bread like qualities. Or like croissants? Do you like croissants? What about doughnuts? They’re just really sweet bread.” She’s absolutely flummoxed. Rather funny. But I do really like making breads!

Cam was a champ and suggested we go down to Orem for Emma Z Caines birthday party. It was at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night, and we couldn’t leave until Cam got out of class at 3. So it was a very quick trip but Cam was sooo sweet for suggesting it and Stetson was a rockstar in the very long car ride. It was good to surprise Emma and I also got to see Linsey Pedersen and Hope Dutson. Such a good time.

Stetson keeps saying more and more! He’s hysterical sometimes. I was working out this week on a yoga mat, and about ten minutes in, Stetson began rolling up my mat and saying “ah non” (all done). Apparently he’d had enough of my fitness for the day 😅 he’s a goofball and makes me so happy. We had some friends over for dinner last night, and they have a little 18 month old. She’s as feisty as can be and next to her, Stetson looks like the most mild baby in the world (maybe he is…). She yells and runs all over the place and takes things from Stetson and he just kinda watches her in awe. She’s adorable (her name’s Emma) and makes me laugh. Her parents are always commenting on how mild and mellow Stetson is.

Anyway! It was a good week. Onto the next one. Hope to see you guys sometime soon!

Cam and Stetson play a game with this hot pad. Stetson slaps Cam with it and Cam dramatically falls down. Gets him every time.

Emma’s bday

Feelin fabulous

Sourdough brioche. We made French toast out of it :)

He LOVES stomping in his big boots. They’re so clunky and thick, but he loves that he can stomp and play in the snow with them
