Nilsson News

The babies have arrived!  I'm always a bit of a nervous wreck around foaling time but the one thing that kept me optimistic was that these two mamas had delivered all on their own last time with no problems.  Deedee was first and we all were there to watch.  The foal was huge and I did help pull a little.  It was the most energetic little girl we have ever seen and she is constantly running around (definitely a type 3).  She is super friendly and we named her Jemima.  Foal number two came one week later and I was there for that one and Garrett and the older kids were at the Harts.  It was almost identical to the first delivery and I did help pull the large foal as well.  The little gal surprised us by being a beautiful red color (her mom is one of our darkest brown) and we decided on the name Hazel.  We are going to keep her because of the color and she has the sweetest temperament (definitely a type 2).  We are so happy and grateful that they are here and alive and healthy.  Whenever you have really hard experiences you learn to treasure the normal situations so much more!

The weather has been good for the most part.  We have been doing projects around the yard like revamping the chicken coop, burning the ditch, fertilizing the entire pasture, and the regular maintenance of weed control and manure pile control.

Yesterday, Addy, Emerson and I, went to Ian's comedic play where he was the lead role of Frank the pirate.  It was a production put together by a local home school group and it was hilarious and extremely well done!  It is fun to know someone so famous!

We are counting down to the end of official school.  Once the weather turns nice, it is like torture to everyone to stay inside to do school.  We prefer the hands on, dig in the dirt kind of school.  We are getting ready to plan out each of the kid's garden plots.  It is fun for them to choose what they want to plant and they are in charge of taking care of it for the whole season.

Good times!  Hope all is well with each of you!

Millie loves the foals and they love her!  She is just the right size for them.
