Flake Fun

First off, Emma, don't feel bad for disliking camping.  I dread it. But maybe it will get better.

This last month has been pretty good.  The kids still talk about how fun the cousins reunion was.

We have semi started school. I am trying to figure the whole thing out so we are just taking it one day at a time.

We planted little patches of cover crop where our fruit trees will go and they were looking pretty good...then the cows found them.

The highlight of the last week was finding our toads.

James put 7 of them in his plastic boat and loved watching them escape.

Rand saw this monster truck at Tractor Supply and had to take a picture with it.

Field peas - the cows destroyed my compost bin too!

Hyde Hapinnesses

This was the first week in a long time where we haven’t had to go anywhere or do anything and it was AWESOME. Cam has been working with his brother all week so Stetson and I have seen very little of him. But Cam has been loving it and they’ve been very successful so that’s good :) I got to go to lunch with mom yesterday which was delightful. For anyone considering it, moving to Logan and having lunch dates with mom is absolutely unmatched and totally recommended.

Because the week was so blissfully uneventful, I don’t have much to say :) but here are some cute pictures of Stetson :)

Thanks Jenn for the awesome strider bike! It’s still too big for him but he LOVES it

Fishing was well… an adventure 😂 Stetson loved when Cam or Nate threw in the line, but the minute they caught a fish it was “all done!!” And he wanted nothing to do with it. But the fish they caught were SO delicious.

Hyde Happinesses

 Hello friends!

At last the summer has begun to calm down and I can now resume some sort of routine 🤞🏼 it’s been good, but man am I tired! We just got through with a rodeo camping weekend with Cams siblings. It was fun. I still hate camping. And I hate that I dislike camping because it makes me feel like I hate nature. But geez. It was awful. I do love hearing all the outside noises and we slept right by a river so that was nice. But it was cold. And the ground was SO HARD and lumpy. And Stetson had to sleep with us and basically kicked in circles allllllll night long. I know I was awake for at least 3 hours straight at one point. And pretty much in and out every half hour. Do I dislike camping? Yes, yes I do. But we did it and I’m proud and now we don’t have to do it for another 3 years hopefully.

This week really was pretty slow besides this weekend. It was nice to try to get back in the groove and get ourselves settled again. I’m sooooo blasted tired from going to bed at midnight on Friday and not sleeping at all Saturday, I think I will turn in 😅 thank you for joining me in my rant session. Life really is great. And camping was actually sort of fun. Besides the actual camping part ⛺️ I sure love you all! Hope you have a great week!

We got this pool for Stetson to use. He likes to throw rocks in it and Oakley likes to dig for them. It gives me a good 45 minute chance to sit down!

And then he found dirt 😅

He helped me make peanut butter bars

Who raised this kid??

Rodeo! These are all the couples that got married in the last three months. The couple next to us live in Logan

Fair shenanigans

Attempting to put him down at camp. It took over an hour

They must be related or something

Hyde Happinesses

Wowza how time flies. I feel like I haven’t had time to take a deep breath in ages 😂 this summer has been totally jam packed with all the best of things. Happily we’ve gotten to see a lot of a lot of you and a little of some of you ;) hopefully we’ll keep that trend going even as things settle down into more of a routine. Since it’s been a millennia since I’ve written, I’ll just follow the trend and add captions to pictures to give you a glimpse of our summer :)

Although he doesn’t like it when I hold Jane, he loves saying her name and gets excited when we see her.

Oakley has been a bit clingy with all our travels…

Parade watching in style

The second best holiday

We went to Cams family’s cabin in the Uintahs and wore Stetson right out. I couldn’t get over how boy he looked the whole time: dirt on his face, the cutest shoes you ever did see, and remnants of s’mores on his nose.

Enjoyed some time at Bear Lake - let’s plan another day where everyone can come!!

Cam ran the Beast in 4.5 hours! Meanwhile… Stetson took a nap, had on demand water and snacks, and a fan to cool him off. Now that’s really livin’ dad!

The Harts were kind enough to watch Oakley a few times while we were gone this summer and we always had a blast when we dropped her off. If you haven’t tried the raspberry s’more, you’re missing out. The credit for this masterpiece goes to Jack.

Lots of time in the car? No problem. Stetsons most favorite thing is “abakaball” so we got a cheap net and took it with us. Best idea ever. He now uses it in the tub

The Hyde clan. From the left: us, Nate and Lyv (just got married and coming to live in Logan), Kevin and Debbie, Mia, Lexi and Drew (living in Kaysville), Emily and Tyler (living in Evanston), and Mason.

He’s been such a champ with all the traveling but it sure wears a guy out!!

Randomly got to see one of my companions on the way to our cousins reunion! She happened to be visiting her grandparents in Randolph at the same time!

We had such a good time at the cousins reunion! Always so good to see everyone! Love you all lots. Can’t wait until next time!
