Flake Fun

I don't have much to report, even though it has been several weeks.

James lost a tooth which was exciting.

We got 25 trees from Pitkin Nursery.  I am really excited to get them planted but that is a lot of holes to dig!!

The house is coming along...see...

This is the fireplace surround.  Once it is completed (at least for this level - just 4 more rows) then we can start framing the basement walls.

Love you all!  Happy Easter!

Hyde Happinesses

Hello lovely people. I sure love you all. I really don’t have much to say, but I found myself with some quiet time and not much else to do! Cam is helping someone move a fridge, and the boys are asleep. Tragically, I finished the Emma M Lion series last night. It’s actually tragic. And now I’m sitting on pins and needles, waiting for any word of the next book. It’s safe to say I’m completely obsessed with them.

We’ve enjoyed some lovely weather, and some really less than ideal weather 😅 after this Tuesday, we should be getting into warmer temperatures, and hopefully staying there.

What boys don’t like to be outside? Beckham has found the various culinary delights quite satisfying. Particularly dirt.

Beck loves to cuddle anytime, anywhere. And it’s my favorite thing in the world.

We decided a helmet was a good investment after stets went flying over his handlebars into the grass. He popped right up, totally fine, but we got the helmet just in case. Lucky for us, he loves it.

Learning the ways of the trade.

Flake Fun

We got the walls poured for the garage which is a great thing.  If I understand, things should start looking like we are actually making progress in the next few steps of the progress.

My sister-in-law's wedding was lovely and we had fun while we were down in Mesa.  We went to LEGOLAND and the kids had a blast.

We survived the first super windy week of the year with one day gusting at 65 mph.

I am getting antsy to get things in the ground so we planted some pumpkins on our hill and covered them with glass jars.   We'll see if they survive.

Love you all.  We hope to get up to see some of you soon.

Hyde Happinesses

I am very tired. Beckham goes through these phases of refusing to go to sleep at night. We’ll get him down, and he’ll be up again. And again. And again 😅 sometimes I’d really like to go to bed early but I know he’ll just be up four times before midnight, and that’s more exhausting than just staying up. Cam is always willing to help but Beckham turns into a mamas only boy at night. If anyone wants to come and see if he wants to be an aunty or uncles boy at night, be my guest 😂 other than that, he is absolutely adorable. This kid LOVES dancing. We used to be able to put him to sleep by dancing with him, but now it’s impossible because he just wants to do the dancing 😅 and if we’re in a store and he can hear the music, he’ll start bobbing his head and shimmying. It is actually the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Stetson is also delightful. He also still wakes up during the night 😅 my kids and sleep… it’s no joke folks. I’m hoping once we put them in the same room they’ll be buddies and they can stay up as long as they want together 😂 but anyway. Stets is as sassy as ever but also is just the most loving and patient kid on the planet. Speaking of planets, he’s quite obsessed with them. He has a song he sings about them and it’s awesome. He’s loving the weather warming up and loves to go on walks and ride his bike. He’s also loving learning his letters and is pretty darn good if I say so myself. He’s knows the sounds and the letters themselves and can point them out in books and posters and such. It’s such a blast to see him learning.

Cam was home for most of January and February which was very fun. We got to redo our front entry from a burnt orange to some board and batten, blue, and stamped wall. Cam made a bench and shelf to go along and I just love it. Here’s to hoping we get to stay here 🤞🏼 can officially took over the business this last week and I think he’s been having a lot of fun putting it all together. It’ll be a great business for him.

I closed down the bakery because it was kind of falling apart. I’m so impressed with how well it did! Our neighbors are truly fantastic and so supportive. It was really fun to try new things and hone some of my baking skills. I’ve made a few cakes this year which has been a blast, and I’m determined to do some fun sourdough art as well.

All in all, life’s pretty good :) i’m hoping we can see some of yall soon!

Before

After

One of our valentines traditions is to have a pizza picnic. This time stets was outside playing with his aunt and Beckham was taking a nap. It was fun to just be Cam and I for a minute!

Cam and I got to go to aUK game which was a blast. The head coach is in our ward (Mark Pope) and he got Cams parents tickets. They were phenomenal seats and it was fun to see such good players.

This kid lives for his thumb and his blankie.

Hyde Happinesses

Hello hello! It’s been awhile!! Shoutout to Jenn for keeping up with the blog. I really do think about it often but just never seem to get around to it.

Life has been cold. And very very good. I love sledding actually and I have to beg Stetson to go out with me 😅 we got lots of snow but mostly ice, so we go flying over our big hill and we have to try not to hit our fence in the back. It’s a blast. You should definitely come try it out. It’s been so fun.

So Stetson is really leaning into his three year oldness. I’m actually taking advice from the moms of teenagers so if you have any, please send it my way. He’s still mostly delightful… but definitely believes he is the adult here.

Beckham has learned to fake cry which makes me laugh and makes him mad. He also loves to scrunch his nose and smile and it’s the most adorable thing ever. He loves to jabber and is loving walking with his walker. He makes me run after him all day long and I’m rather tired. Would love to have any babysitters at any time ;)

Well I hope you have a great week and hope you get lots of snow!!

Stetson and his firey friend Nyla and her sister Allie

Made a pretty birthday cake for someone in our ward

Beck is big into giving kisses lately. It kills me 😂

We watched Peter Pan and these were the results

Flake Fun

The weather is cold...period.  We poured the garage footers on the holiday.  We had picked that day because the temps seemed high enough.  The temp steadily dropped until the day we poured, the low was 18.  So we had to cover the whole thing with blankets.  It looks good though.  We are hoping to pour the stem walls next week if we can get everything ready.

Other than that,  we have hunkered down and tried to stay warm.

I did get antsy and we started a few seeds in the greenhouse.  Mostly pumpkins since the kids saved all of the seeds from their jack-o-lanterns so we have 100+!   They are delighted to see their little sprouts.

The other day James came up to me and said, "Can I take something apart?"  So we went to the thrift store and he has been unscrewing things all day.  He loves to tinker.

We also did a beef over the weekend so we are stocked in the beef department.  The kids were troopers and packaged 90% of the hamburger meat.

Hope that everyone is having a great week!  Love you all.

Flake Fun

We survived the holidays and had quite a bit of fun.  This year we ventured out to the live nativity and it was great.  There were some goats and a donkey and bonfires to sit by while you watched the performance.  It might become a tradition.

We spent Christmas in Scottsdale swimming and having fun.  Both brothers-in-law had to work the day before and the day after Christmas so we were accommodating them.

The "homemade" tree with popcorn and paper chain decorations.

We went to the Mesa temple lights.  Yes, the kids are wearing shorts.

The week before Christmas we took the kids to Out of Africa, an outdoor wildlife park.  I thought it would be like a zoo but I was wrong.  We went on a safari and fed a giraffe when he poked his head through the bus windows.  We watched a tiger play with his trainers. We spent 5 minutes petting a 17 foot python. We listened to the lions talking back and forth.  It was incredible.

Scott had most of last week off so we rented a huge backhoe and tackled the culvert and garage footers.  Scott worked from sun up to sun down and got some amazing things done.

What we started with

After 4 hours of hauling boulders

Pushing the boulders deep into the mud

Where we are now
The garage footers

This corner had to be filled in to be level so we can attach the garage to the house

Even though it was only about 40 degrees, steam was coming off of Scott's back!  It looked like he was on fire.

All done and almost ready to pour

Hope that you all have a good week and a great start to the new year.
