The Plunge

There comes a time, I believe, in everyone's life when change becomes a necessity.  Most often, I do not like things to change but every once in awhile there is nothing better.  Look at this picture (not really the greatest picture I know).

I have looked pretty much the same since I was about 14 years old.  I love my hair, mainly because I remember my life when I didn't have any.  My hair used to be so thin I couldn't even keep it up in a ponytail.  When I was 9, we chopped it off and somehow that created a kind of explosion and immediately I had hair and lots of it!  I did become quite attached to it.  I think all of us are attached to our hair. Literally.  At our Stake Conference adult meeting, I was sitting by myself waiting for Garrett to arrive.  A very nice older gentleman came up to me and asked if I lived in the Stake.  I told him I did and what ward I was a member of.  Then he asked if I was just getting ready to start college.  He was shocked when I told him that I was married, had five kids and my husband was the bishop.  He honestly did not believe me until Garrett walked in and became a second witness.  I was grateful for his compliment but it was at that point I decided I needed a change.  It was time to move on and take on  a new look completely different from high school.  I was ready to take the plunge!

My neighbor chopped off 10 inches that I was able to donate and then she just kept snip, snip, snipping!  My hair is really dark now because the part you can see hasn't seen the light of day for 20 years.  I don't really like the way it is done in these pictures so I am still discovering how I like to style it.  It is so fun!  I'm loving it!  Lots of other people have told me it is a sin, I should be excommunicated, what was I thinking.  I was thinking, I had long, thick hair that made me sweat all the time, gave me headaches, was hard to clean, and made people think I was still in high school.  Garrett was 100% supportive.  Emerson was not.  He is slowly warming up to me again.  So, what do you think?
